Insurance is a profession built around people, even in this technological age. So it is important that the sector, with the professional body at the forefront, tells an interesting story about what we can offer – particularly to those people making their career choices who do not have an understanding of the profession.
The CII launched its Discover Risk initiative several years ago to give students in schools, colleges and universities an insight into insurance. With support from practitioners we make use of the Discover Risk game to engage young people and challenge their perceptions of the sector. The results speak for themselves with positive feedback coming from students and teachers alike.
“Thanks for the session which you ran. I had such positive feedback from the students. You certainly opened their eyes to possible career choices.”
“Thank you for organising an excellent event; it was an excellent opportunity to understand more about risk and to meet more people working in the industry.”
“I would like to express my gratitude to you for the excellent Discover Risk day. All our students came back with an extremely positive view of the insurance world in general.”
“The way you led the day was definitely the best I have seen.”
“A very big thank you for coming to deliver the Discover Risk workshop to our students. This was a real eye-opener for all of our Year 12s. Everyone enjoyed the sessions (including staff) and students were animatedly discussing the workshops afterwards and their future careers. It was a definite highlight of our enrichment calendar and an extremely successful and productive session. We very much appreciate being able to work with professionals."
